Caring for our Customers  and the Community

Singapore

In Singapore, we pledged a S$1 million holistic support package to help our customers should they be affected by COVID-19. On a national level, we also contributed S$200,000 to provide financial assistance to those in Singapore affected by COVID-19 through the Courage Fund, which aims to support vulnerable individuals and groups such as patients, healthcare workers and members of the community affected by serious infectious diseases.

Effective 14 February 2020 until end-2020, our customers and/or their immediate family members who are hospitalised due to COVID-19, will receive a cash benefit of S$200 per day of hospitalisation up to a maximum of 60 days. In the unfortunate event that death occurs, a S$20,000 lump sum will be paid out.

For our travel insurance customers, we are offering a full premium refund for those who have purchased policies from 6 February to 30 June 2020 should they decide to cancel their plans.

In addition, we will also provide monetary support for our financial representatives and their families should they be affected by COVID-19.

Malaysia

i-Great Wawasan – Short-term Payment Plan with Long-term Benefits

In an interview with The Edge recently, GETB CEO Shahrul Azlan Shahriman stressed on the need to participate in takaful as a means to protect loved ones and to leave a legacy for future generations.

“I will buy it when I need”, is what we commonly hear in relation to insurance and takaful. But the reality is when you need it you can’t buy it,” he said in explaining the concept of preparing ahead for rainy days or for retirement.

He added that most people stopped at step one when participating in takaful, which is in getting a medical card, but failed to protect their family against the uncertainties in the future.

This is where i-Great Wawasan fits as a holistic protection plan with high sum covered of at least RM500,000 and the option to pay the contributions over a short term of 5 years. A lump sum payout is made in the event misfortune befalls the breadwinner such as total permanent disability or death, including accidental death which pays out up to 4 times the sum covered. This payment will ensure that the breadwinner’s debts, mortgage and lifestyle needs of his or her family can be sustained.

Another key feature of i-Great Wawasan is the ability to accumulate savings so that one can retire comfortably, given its maturity benefit feature through the investment-linked portion.

The Colourful Life

Working life can get stressful for employees when it is crunch time and they also have to balance responsibilities outside of work.

In light of this, GETB decided to look into the welfare of its employees and recently approved a range of ‘perks’ for its workforce, including a business casual dress code and allowing employees to apply for time-off when they are most in need of it.

There is also the option of flexi working hours, where one can opt to start work as early as 7.30am - useful if he or she has to attend a school meeting or wish to avoid peak hour traffic in the evenings. This is in addition to the other benefits GETB employees enjoy, including the cherished birthday leave!

And who better to promote these perks than their own ‘ambassadors’? GETB Finance manager Noraidah Mohamad and Shariah Head Sabran Jamil Ab Razak were the first to sign up as influencers, and these influencers play a significant role in promoting better work-life balance and greater employee engagement and connection.
