Dr Francis Oen graduated with his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1985. He started his ophthalmology training in 1987 and obtained his FRCS (Edinburgh), M.Med (Ophth) and FCOphth (UK) in early 1990. He was a Medical Staff Officer with the Singapore Armed Forces until 1993.
He joined the Singapore National Eye Centre in 1993 and has been in the Glaucoma Service since 1995. He did his fellowship training in glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, in 1996. Upon returning, he has been involved in many of the research projects that the Glaucoma Service in SNEC has undertaken. He was made Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in 2003 and became Head, Glaucoma Service in 2005.
He was a Clinical Lecturer with the National University of Singapore and was also involved in the teaching of medical students and examiner for the Ophthalmology Specialist Exams.
