Dr Tan obtained her Medical Degree from the National University of Singapore in 2003. She did Ophthalmology residency training in Singapore and qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009. She obtained her Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) qualifications in 2010 and completed a further 3 years of advance surgical training at the Singapore National Eye Centre.
In 2014, Dr Tan obtained her specialist accreditation as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS), where she was awarded 3 gold medals for Best Candidate in Glaucoma, Vitreoretinal as well as Neuro-ophthalmology in the Specialists’ Exit exam. After having obtained her specialist accreditation, she also successfully completed her Glaucoma subspecialty fellowship training at the Singapore National Eye Centre in 2015.
Dr Tan is also actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate education of ophthalmology trainees and medical students, as well as paramedical staff, including optometrists and nurses.
Her current research interest is in Glaucoma and she actively participates in presentations at international and local conferences, and has published scientific papers in respected peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr Tan’s current clinical practice includes general ophthalmology and cataract surgery, as well as in the subspecialty field of Glaucoma.
