Dr. Veronique Tan is a Senior Consultant in the Division of Surgical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore. She also has a practice at the SGH, and is part of the SingHealth DukeNUS Breast Centre.
Dr. Tan graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2004,
where she was placed on the Dean’s List. She received her specialist training in the Department of General Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital. She was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Program (HMDP) fellowhip in 2013 that enabled her to spend 12 months in subspecialty training in Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery at the Nottingham Breast Institute, UK.
Dr. Veronique believes that the appearance of the breast after cancer resection is important,
and that every patient should have a tailored, individualized surgical solution.
She provides precise, high quality care for each patient, and has received numerous awards for outstanding service quality.
Active in research and teaching, Dr Tan is (Adj) Assistant Professor at the DukeNUS Graduate
Medical School where she coordinates the Surgery Curriculum. She is also Clinical Senior Lecturer at the
Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Clinical Faculty of the SingHealth
General Surgery Residency Program. Her research interest is in breast cancer, in particular breast cancer
in young women and genetic breast cancers. Dr. Veronique is regularly invited to speak at local and
regional conferences where she presents her work and surgical techniques. She has published
numerous papers in peer reviewed journals and contributed several book chapters on oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery.
Dr. Tan’s practice covers benign breast conditions, the diagnosis and surgical treatment of symptomatic
and screen-detected breast cancer, oncoplastic breast surgery and breast reconstruction. She performs
the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic breast procedures.
