¹ Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are: washing, toileting, dressing, feeding, mobility and transferring.

² For ElderShield Comprehensive 2 ADLs, severe Disability refers to the inability to perform a minimum of 2 out of 6 ADLs.

For ElderShield Comprehensive 3 ADLs, severe Disability refers to the inability to perform a minimum of 3 out of 6 ADLs.

³ The lump sum Initial Benefit is equivalent to three times the Monthly Benefit, payable after a 90-day deferment period.

^* There are currently two ElderShield schemes: ElderShield300 and ElderShield400. ElderShield300 was first launched in September 2002 and offers a payout of S$300 per month for a maximum of 60 months. ElderShield400 came about after the ElderShield reform in 2007 and offers an improved coverage with payout of S$400 per month for a maximum of 72 months.
