GREAT Covid Care Plan

1.  What is the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

The GREAT Covid Care Plan (“Policy”) is a specially designed group insurance policy to provide you with daily hospital cash benefits in the event you are diagnosed with COVID-19 after receiving a COVID-19 Vaccine. This Policy is underwritten by The Great Eastern Life Assurance Co Ltd (the “Company”) and is available upon registration by an eligible customer.

COVID-19” refers to the Coronavirus Disease 2019.

COVID-19 Vaccine” refers to any COVID-19 vaccine which is:

a) approved for use in Singapore by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and administered by a provider licensed by Ministry of Health (MOH); or

b) supplied under the Special Access Route after approval by the World Health Organisation (WHO) under its Emergency Use Listing (EUL) and administered by a provider licensed by MOH according to the WHO EUL-approved indications and age groups.

Daily Hospital Cash Benefit

A daily benefit paid for each day the Life Insured is hospitalised during the eligible period, solely due to COVID-19 infection after receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 Vaccine.

S$200 per day

  • The hospitalisation of the Life Insured due to COVID-19 must be considered medically necessary by a registered medical practitioner. This can be in a hospital in Singapore or overseas as long as it fulfils the criteria of “Hospital” as defined in the policy contract.
  • The Life Insured must have received their first dose of a COVID-19 Vaccine:-

a) prior to the hospitalisation due to COVID-19; and

b) on and before 31 December 2021.

  • Coverage starts from the date of registration for the policy or the date the Life Insured receive the first dose of a COVID-19 Vaccine, whichever is later. Coverage terminates automatically after twelve (12) months.
  • Daily Hospital Cash Benefit shall only be payable once for each Life Insured even if the said Life Insured is hospitalised multiple times due to COVID-19 during the eligible period.
  • The maximum amount of benefits the Company will pay for Daily Hospital Cash Benefits is S$2,000 per Life Insured.
  • The claim submission date by the eligible customer must occur within thirty-one (31) days from the discharge date of the Life Insured. The claim submission date will be taken to be the date the eligible customer submits all the required documents and the Company acknowledges receipt of the same.

 

3.  What is the eligible period?

Eligible period refers to a period of twelve (12) months from:-

a) the date of registration of the policy; or

b) the date the Life Insured receives the first dose of a COVID-19 Vaccine (provided this occurs on or before 31 December 2021),

whichever is later. Thereafter, the Policy will terminate automatically.

 

4.  Who can be a Life Insured under the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

Any eligible customer and eligible child(ren) of the eligible customer can be covered as a Life Insured under the GREAT Covid Care Plan.

 

5.  Who is an eligible customer for the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

An eligible customer refers to any person who meets the following requirements:

a) 19 Age Next Birthday and above at the date of registration;  

b) a Singaporean or Singaporean Permanent Resident, or is on a valid employment pass (EP holder/S Pass holder/ Work Permit holder) or Student Pass or Dependant’s pass;

c) residing in Singapore; and

d) eligible for registration under Singapore’s COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.

 

6.  Who is an eligible child under the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

An eligible child refers to:-

a) any biological or step child from a legal marriage or a legally adopted child of the eligible customer;

b) between 1 and 18 Age Next Birthday at the date of registration;

c) residing in Singapore; and

d) eligible for registration under Singapore’s COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.

 

7.  If I have already received both doses of a COVID-19 Vaccine, can I still register for the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

Yes, you can still register for the GREAT Covid Care Plan and receive benefits if you are hospitalised due to COVID-19 during the eligible period.

 

8.  If my first day of hospitalisation due to COVID-19 is on the expiry date of my policy, am I still covered?

Yes, but you will only be covered for your first day of hospitalisation which is within the eligible period. The subsequent days of hospitalisation will not be covered under the GREAT Covid Care Plan.

 

9.  If I am already hospitalised due to COVID-19, can I register for the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

Yes, but you will not be able to claim against the plan for your current hospitalisation stay. If you are hospitalised again due to Covid-19 during the eligible period after receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 Vaccine, you can make a claim.

 

10. When would my policy coverage terminate under the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

Your cover will be terminated automatically on the earliest of the following events:

  • the expiration of the eligible period in respect of a Life Insured;
  • upon the admission by the Company of a Daily Hospital Cash Benefit claim by a Life Insured;
  • the Company receives the eligible customer’s request to terminate coverage;
  • if a Life Insured no longer fulfil the criteria of an eligible customer or eligible child (whichever is applicable); or
  • upon the death of a Life Insured.

11. When is the registration period for the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

From 25 June 2021 to 30 September 2021.

 

12. Is it compulsory to register for the GREAT Covid Care Plan?

Yes, registration is compulsory to enjoy the benefits of the policy. Please click on here to register for this policy.

 

13. Why do we need to register for the complimentary GREAT Covid Care Plan; i.e not automatically enrolled/ extended coverage unlike some of the insurers?

This is an insurance policy. Registration is required so that we can provide you with an electronic copy of your policy contract to your most updated email address for reference in the event of future claim(s). Please ensure accurate information is provided, as they will be used for claims verification.

 

14. Is there an age range to enjoy this complimentary GREAT Covid Care Plan?

No, all ages can be covered under the GREAT Covid Care Plan.

 

15. What is the minimum age to register for coverage?

The eligible customer must be at least 18 years old. Should an individual below the age of 18 years old wish to apply, please apply with your parent as the eligible customer and provide the necessary information. 

 

16. Can I apply for my child(ren) to be covered under GREAT Covid Care Plan?

Yes, you can include the details of your child(ren) in the registration form if your child(ren) meet the criteria of eligible child(ren) set out above. You may register up to eight (8) eligible child(ren) for this policy.

 

17. I am currently not a Great Eastern Customer. Can I apply?

Yes, this offer is open to both Great Eastern & non-Great Eastern customers. Please contact a Great Eastern Financial Representative to apply, alternatively the registration form is available on the Great Eastern website.

 

18. Will I receive any hard copy policy documents?

No, you will receive an email confirmation within one (1) working day from the date of your registration with a link to a softcopy of your policy.  Alternatively, you may click here to view the sample policy contract for the full terms and conditions of the GREAT Covid Care Plan.

 

 

CLAIMS

 

19. If I am hospitalised more than once from COVID-19 after receiving a COVID-19 Vaccine, can I make multiple claims?

No, the Daily Hospital Cash Benefit is payable once for each Life Insured up to the cap of S$2,000 per Life Insured regardless of the duration of the hospitalisation stay.

 

20. Does it cover private and public hospitals in Singapore, and hospitals outside Singapore?

Yes, private and public hospitals in Singapore and overseas are eligible as long as they meet the criteria of a “Hospital” as defined in the policy.

 

21. When can I make a claim?

You may make a claim upon the Life Insured being discharged from the hospital.

 

22. How do I make a claim?

For a Daily Hospital Cash Benefit claim, you will have to submit the following documents to GroupClaims-SG@greateasternlife.com:

a) GREAT Covid Care Plan claim form;

b) A copy of your Certificate of Insurance (COI);

c) A copy of the Life Insured’s vaccination card;

d) A copy of discharge summary;

e) A copy of the hospital bill which states the number of days the Life Insured was hospitalised; and

f) Proof of residency; a copy of your NRIC/ Birth Certificate/ Employment Pass/Student Pass/Dependent’s Pass (whichever is applicable).

 

23.  Will I be notified of the claim status?

Yes, you will be notified of the claim outcome in a timely manner. All successful claim amounts will be paid to the eligible customer’s bank account indicated in the claim form and a settlement letter will be sent to you.
