This is an FAQ which provides a brief description of the Policy and is not a contract of insurance. Please refer to the policy document for the precise terms and conditions of the insurance plan.
1. Who is eligible to apply for this Great Value Protect (Plan 4) (“Policy”) through this promotion by Great Eastern and Mothercare?
Registration for this promotion is open on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 1,800 Mothercare’s Gold Members and Mothercare’s employees (“VIP Member(s)”) who satisfy all the following criteria:
a) an individual between the ages of 18 and 64 (age next birthday);
b) is resident in Singapore;
c) is a Singapore citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident, or foreigner holding a valid Employment Pass or S Pass in Singapore or dependant’s pass;
d) is not insured under a Great Value Protect (Plan 4 and/or Plan 5) issued by Great Eastern; and
e) who receive notification directly from Mothercare as to their eligibility for the Promotion (“VIP Member(s)”).
Each VIP Member also has the option to have a member of their immediate family (“Household Member”) apply for a complimentary Policy under the promotion. Great Eastern will offer the insurance coverage under the Policy for up to 1,800 Household Members who apply for the Policy under the promotion, on a first-come, first-served basis. Such Household Member must satisfy the following in addition to the eligibility criteria as set out above:
f) be an immediate family member of the VIP Member;
g) reside at the same residential address as the VIP Member; and
h) produce documentary proof of family relationship with the VIP Member and residential address, as may be required by and acceptable to, Great Eastern.
An “immediate family” or “immediate family member” refers to the parents, spouse, children or siblings of the VIP Member.
Registration for the policy must be made on Great Eastern’s website link provided in the notification which VIP Members receive from Mothercare during the period from 1 February 2021 to 30 April 2021 (both dates inclusive) or such other dates as Great Eastern may decide.
2. What is Great Value Protect (Plan 4)?
Great Value Protect (Plan 4) is a specially designed insurance plan to provide you with financial protection against death and total and permanent disability as a result of an accident. It also provides daily hospital cash benefit if you are hospitalised due to an accident, Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) infection or Covered Sickness. The Policy is underwritten by Great Eastern and is available to customers for activation.
"Covered Sickness" refers to any of the following diseases diagnosed by a registered medical practitioner in Singapore in accordance with prevailing clinical guidelines published by the Ministry of Health, where available, and supported by acceptable clinical, radiological, histological and laboratory evidence:
i) Food Poisoning;
ii) Dengue Fever;
iii) Zika; and
iv) Yellow Fever.
3. What does this Policy cover?
GREAT Value Protect (Plan 4)
1) Accidental Death Benefit
2) Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Benefit
3) Death due to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Death must occur in Singapore.
4) Hospital Allowance (up to 14 days):
i) Due to Accident Only;
ii) Due to Covered Sickness;
iii) Due to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
Only covers treatment received in Singapore.
S$100 per day
4. What is the definition of “Pre-Existing Condition”?
”Pre-Existing Condition” refers to any condition, illness, disease, disability or defect for which you have:
i. sought medical advice, investigated, been diagnosed, been hospitalised, received medical treatment, undergone surgical operation, or been prescribed drugs at any time prior to the Effective Date; or
ii. signs and symptoms which manifested prior to the Effective Date, which would have caused a prudent person to seek medical advice or counselling, undergo investigation or diagnostic tests, receive medical treatment, undergo surgery, be hospitalised, or be prescribed drugs.
The Effective Date is the date of your successful activation of the Policy on Great Eastern’s website which will be as specified in your Certificate of Insurance.
5. Must I be hospitalised in Singapore to be eligible for the Hospital Allowance benefit?
Yes, the hospital confinement due to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), Accident or Covered Sickness must take place in a hospital in Singapore.
6. Can I claim more than once for the Hospital Allowance benefit on this Policy?
Yes, you may submit a claim for each hospitalisation stay (for a minimum of 12 hours) due to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) infection, Accident or Covered Sickness.
7. What is not covered under this Policy?
Please refer to the Product Summary and Certificate of Insurance for more information on the exclusions.
8. What if I am insured under one or more GREAT Value Protect policies currently?
If you are covered under more than one GREAT Value Protect policy issued by Great Eastern, in the event of a claim, we will consider you as covered under the policy with the highest benefits only and your coverage under the other GREAT Value Protect policies will be cancelled. Where the benefits of the GREAT Value Protect policy(ies) are identical, you will be covered only under the policy which was first issued and your coverage under such other policy(ies) will be cancelled. We will not refund any duplicated premium paid.
9. What is the effective date of the policy (“Effective Date”)?
The insurance coverage is effective on the date of your successful activation of the Policy on Great Eastern’s website and is specified in your Certificate of Insurance.
10. How will I know if I have successfully activated this Policy?
Upon successful activation, you will receive an email with your Certificate of Insurance and the terms and conditions of the Policy.
11. How long will this Policy last?
Twelve (12) consecutive months starting from the Effective Date. Thereafter, the Policy will be terminated automatically.

13. Will I be notified of the claim status?
Yes, you will be notified of the claim outcome in a timely manner. All successful claim amounts will be paid to your bank account (as indicated in your claim form) and a settlement letter will be sent to you.

15. I have other personal accident insurance policies with another insurer. Will I still be able to claim on this Policy?
