Learn the basics of aerobic composting and how to create a simple composting system in a jar where you can observe the amazing process of decomposition whilst helping to tackle food waste in Singapore.
Items to prepare:
· A large clear container with a wide “mouth” (ideally 2L)
· 2-4 cups of soil
· 1-3 cups of water
· Brown materials like paper bag/dry leaves enough to fill up 3 cups
· 1 - 2 cups of raw vegetable/fruit scraps collected from the previous 24-48 hours and left in the fridge (no meat, no dairy, no cooked food, no bones)
· 1 Rubber band (to use around the jar's mouth)
· Breathable fabric like an old T-shirt that can cover the jar’s mouth
· Scissors
· 1/2 cup Compost (OPTIONAL)
