Waist-To-Hip Ratio

The waist-to-hip ratio is calculated by dividing waist circumference at its narrowest point by hip circumference at the widest point. It is a simple and useful measure of fat distribution. Weight concentrated around the middle is often referred to as an "apple" shape; whereas, weight concentrated around your hips is referred to as a "pear" shape.
