SINGAPORE, 26 May 2025 – The 19th edition of Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR) opens for registration today with the launch event at Asia Square Tower 1, officiated by Jasmin Lau, Minister of State (MOS) for Education and Digital Development and Information as well as Greg Hingston, Group Chief Executive Officer, Great Eastern. Set to take place on Sunday, 9 November, at the Singapore Sports Hub, this year’s all-women’s race will feature an exciting new category.

GEWR is introducing a new competitive 10km team category exclusively for tertiary students aimed to spotlight and nurture young female running talent in Singapore. Local tertiary institutions have been invited to nominate student athletes to form a team of four via their respective sports clubs and athletics teams.  All nominees must be active students as of 9 November 2025.

Alongside this new tertiary category, GEWR 2025 will provide six race categories:

  • By-invite-only 21.1km half marathon for local elite runners;
  • 21.1 km half-marathon, 10km and 5km runs for the members of the public;
  • 2km ‘Mummy and Me’ run for women with daughters aged 5 to 12; and
  • 100m ‘Princess Dash’ for girls aged 3 to 6.

Get fit with Cinnamoroll again!

Following last year's sold-out race success in the 2km ‘Mummy and Me’ and the 100m ‘Princess Dash’ categories, Sanrio’s beloved character Cinnamoroll returns to bring joy and motivation to child participants and their mothers. Encouraging girls to stay physically active while bonding with their mothers through movement, this special collaboration continues to inspire healthy habits from an early age.

Participants can look forward to exclusive GEWR X Cinnamoroll design race entitlements from bibs to medals as their GEWR race entitlements. This year, all participating kids will also get a GEWR X Cinnamoroll backpack and race T-shirts.

Bid for a bib to support a meaningful cause!

Participants can now bid for a personalised bib number – whether it is a lucky digit, a special date or a meaningful number. Bidding is available after race registration on greateasternwomensrun.com. All monetary contributions from the bid will go towards Daughters Of Tomorrow (DOT), which empower underprivileged women in their back-to-work journey, and the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), which provides vital support for cancer patients and their families.

This initiative is part of GEWR’s ongoing commitment to give back through the power of community. Over the past two years, fundraising efforts driven by Great Eastern’s employees, financial representatives and corporate partners have helped change lives – and this year’s bidding feature is another way for participants to make a difference.

At today’s launch event, Guest of Honour MOS Lau ran alongside representatives from Great Eastern, DOT, SCS, and a student representative from the new tertiary category on treadmills to mark the official opening of the race registration and the start of the fundraising campaign which runs from 26 May to 5 October 2025. The under five-minute segment raised $20,000 from Great Eastern. This amount, along with proceeds from the personalised bib number bidding initiative, will be added to the total funds raised through the campaign – 100% of which will go directly to DOT and SCS.

MOS Jasmin Lau said: “The Great Eastern Women’s Run has become more than a race, it’s a platform that uplifts women through movement, community, and purpose. I’m heartened to see this year’s new tertiary category, which gives young women a space to shine and grow through sport. From the ‘Princess Dash’ to the half marathon, every step taken builds a culture of inclusion, resilience, and giving. I’m honoured to join hands with the Great Eastern community in supporting women at every stage of life and contributing to causes that create real impact.”

Greg Hingston, Group Chief Executive Officer, Great Eastern said: “Celebrating sisterhood, strength and salubrity, the Great Eastern Women’s Run has become a platform for women of all ages to bond and strive for Greatness together. With the introduction of our new 10km tertiary category, we are proud to shine a spotlight on emerging female running talent and provide them with a stage to shine. Beyond the finish line, our run continues to be a powerful force for good where we raised a record $388,000 for our beneficiaries last year.  We will continue to engage donors through creative and meaningful ways such as upcycling our event banners into limited edition merchandise for gifting and allowing race participants to bid for personalised bibs. We are heartened to have our employees, financial representatives and corporate partners coming together to jointly fundraise to uplift underprivileged women and cancer patients in our community.”

To commemorate Great Eastern's 117th anniversary, the first 117 women in the physical registration queue wearing GEWR tees received a pair of complimentary race slots, while the first 500 registrants walked away with a goodie bags worth over $100 each.
