Great Eastern Women’s Run celebrates 20 years of uniting and empowering women across generations

Symbolic torch-bearing ceremony to commemorate the 20th edition of Great Eastern Women’s Run

SINGAPORE, 20 May 2026 – The 20th edition of Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR), set to take place on 1 November at The Kallang, opens for registration today. This marks a milestone for Singapore’s only all-women’s run, which continues its legacy of empowering women through fitness, community and purpose. The registration launch event was officiated by Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment alongside Greg Hingston, Group Chief Executive Officer, Great Eastern.

Guest of Honour, Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, said: “Great Eastern Women’s Run has grown into a platform that brings people together and uplift one another. It continues to empower women through sport, while reflecting the spirit of a more caring and inclusive society, where every step makes a difference to the wider community. Congratulations to Great Eastern Women’s Run on 20 years of building confidence, fostering connections, and doing good.”

Greg Hingston, Group Chief Executive Officer, Great Eastern, said: “Since its inception in 2006, Great Eastern Women’s Run has engaged and supported women at every stage of life. It shows how sisterhood and solidarity can transform an annual run into a lasting movement – one that women consistently show up for themselves, for one another, and for the community. As we build on this legacy, we will deepen our social impact and continue to uplift vulnerable women and cancer survivors.”

From legacy to limitless

As Singapore’s only all-women’s run and one of the largest in Asia, GEWR has invested two decades building a signature platform that unites women from across generations and life stages.

To commemorate the 20th-year milestone and kick-off registration proceedings, a ceremonial torch relay was held at Guoco Tower Urban Park, with 20 runners from previous editions carrying the torch in a tribute to the run’s history and the legacy of past GEWR runners.

In line with the theme '20 Years, Limitless’, the 20th edition of the Great Eastern Women’s Run will spotlight stories of strength, resilience and courage to serve as a launchpad for future generations of women to break barriers and redefine their potential with every stride and every finish line. This will include featuring 20 unstoppable race participants in the official @gewomensrun Instagram account, where they will share their running journey with GEWR.

Expanding support for women’s causes

Through Great Eastern Cares, Great Eastern’s corporate social responsibility programme, this year’s run steps up its community impact with a fundraising campaign running from 20 May to 3 October 2026. Great Eastern has pledged $20,000 to kickstart the fundraising campaign, with $20 from every adult run slot sold added to the fund.

Participation extends beyond race entrants, with employees, financial representatives and corporate partners of Great Eastern mobilised as fundraisers.

All proceeds will be directed to Daughters Of Tomorrow (DOT) and Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) through Community Chest. The funds raised will support DOT’s job readiness programmes, which increase the employability of vulnerable women, and SCS’s initiatives to support cancer survivors in their recovery journeys.
