6 tips on scalp care to maintain a healthy scalp

Common Cancerous Scalp Conditions:

Symptoms:

  • Flesh-coloured, waxy, or “pearly” bump with fine pink or red lines.
  • Flat lesion on the skin.
  • A sore that doesn’t heal or keeps coming back.
  • Scaly, pink or red patch with fine lines.
  • Scar-like patch on the skin.

Symptoms:

  • Open sore on the skin.
  • Firm, red bump that grows rapidly, often with a sore or indented spot in the middle.
  • Thick, scaly, crusted, or “warty” patch.

Symptoms:

  • Large brown spot that may look like a mole.
  • Mole that changes size, colour, itches, or bleeds.
  • Blotchy with uneven borders.
  • Flat or slightly raised.
  • Colours can be blue, black, tan, brown, or dark brown. Some melanomas may be clear or pink.

If you notice something unusual on your scalp, it’s important to take action. Don’t hesitate to see your doctor—they can examine it thoroughly and, if necessary, take a small sample to rule out anything serious, like cancer. Early detection makes a big difference, so it’s always better to get it checked out promptly.
