Terms and conditions for The Great Explorer

1. The Great Explorer is a family engagement programme by The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited (“Great Eastern”) offering rewards, events & experiences and other family-related benefits to Great Eastern policyholders from time to time (the "Programme"). Participation in the Programme is complimentary and no registration or membership sign-up is required. 

2. To participate in the Programme, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

(a)    At least one parent must be an existing Great Eastern Policyholder and the policy remains in force at the point of participation or reward eligibility assessment;
 
(b)    The policyholder must have at least one child aged 12 years and below at the point of participation or reward eligibility assessment;
 
(c)    If the child(ren) is/are insured by Great Eastern (“Child Life Assured(s)”), such Child Life Assured(s) must remain covered under the policy to receive the exclusive benefits provided under the Programme. For the avoidance of doubt, children insured by Great Eastern General Insurance Limited (“GEG”) and children who are not insured by Great Eastern are not eligible for the exclusive benefits although they may be eligible for Programme benefits as may be offered from time to time;
 
(d)    The Policyholder(s) and child or Child Life Assured(s) are physically present and residing in Singapore; 
 

3.    Child Milestone Gifts

(a)    Great Eastern may, from time to time, offer gifts to commemorate key childhood milestones. For example, such gifts may be offered when a Child Life Assured enters primary school or when a Child Life Assured has completed their Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). These gifts are intended to celebrate significant childhood milestones, foster engagement with the Child Life Assured and introduce them to Great Eastern.

(b)   Policyholder(s) with eligible Child Life Assured(s) will receive an electronic mailer (“EDM”) containing details of the applicable gift offering, including the eligibility criteria, fulfilment timelines, fulfilment arrangements and a separate set of terms and conditions governing the applicable gift offering.

(c)    Only one gift will be issued per eligible Child Life Assured for each milestone, regardless of the number of eligible policies held.

(d)   Great Eastern reserves the right to substitute any gift with an item of similar value at its sole discretion.

(e)   All gifts are non-transferable, non-refundable, and not exchangeable for cash, credit, or other items.

(f)     Great Eastern reserves the right to amend, replace, suspend or withdraw any gift at any time without prior notice and without liability to any person.

(g)   Great Eastern shall determine eligibility for any Child Milestone Gift based on the information available in its records as at the eligibility assessment date determined by Great Eastern. Great Eastern's determination of eligibility shall be final and binding.

(h)   Gifts are supplied by third-party manufacturers or suppliers. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Great Eastern makes no representation or warranty as to the quality, suitability, merchantability or fitness for purpose of any gift and shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, injury, cost or expense arising from or in connection with the acceptance, use, consumption or enjoyment of any gift.

4.    Complimentary Sports Classes for Children and Family Events

(a)   Where the Policyholder(s) and/or their child(ren), including any Child Life Assureds and any other children participating in the Great Eastern activities, attend any complimentary sports classes (“Great Eastern activities”), the Policyholder acknowledges and accepts that photographs, motion pictures, images, videos, audio or visual recordings, or other records may be taken, collected, used, disclosed and processed by Great Eastern and its authorised third parties for marketing and promotional purposes, including in social media content, and hereby consents on their own behalf and on behalf of their child(ren) to such collection, use and disclosure.

(b)    Each Policyholder agrees and releases the Great Eastern Persons (as defined at clause 6) from any and all liability involved with taking, recording, digitising of any photographs, images, video or audio recordings whether of themselves or of their child(ren).

(c)     Policyholder(s) and their child(ren) participating in Great Eastern activities will be subject to further terms and conditions as may be applicable to the activities and these will be communicated on a per-activity basis.

(d)   Certain Great Eastern activities may be organised, operated or conducted by third-party service providers. Participation in such activities is voluntary and Policyholders are responsible for ensuring that they and their child(ren) are medically fit and suitable to participate in the relevant activity. Great Eastern shall not be responsible for the acts or omissions of any third-party service provider.

5.    Policyholders may withdraw their consent to receive the complimentary gifts and other Great Explorer materials at any time by emailing GreatExplorer@greateasternlife.com. The withdrawal of consent will be processed within 10 working days from the date of submission of the request. In doing so, the Policyholder acknowledges and accepts that any such withdrawal of consent will result in Great Eastern being unable to administer and fulfil some or all Programme benefits. For the avoidance of doubt, such withdrawal applies only to participation in the Programme and receipt of Programme benefits, and does not affect any separate consent previously provided by the Policyholder to receive marketing and promotional materials from the Great Eastern Companies.

6.    By participating in the Programme, each policyholder agrees and consents to Great Eastern and its related corporations (collectively, the "Companies"), as well as their respective representatives, agents, the Companies' authorised service providers and relevant third parties (the Companies and all the other foregoing parties, collectively, “Great Eastern Persons”), collecting, using, disclosing, and/or sharing amongst themselves, yours and your child(ren)’s personal data, for purposes reasonably required by the Companies to conduct and administer the Programme, fulfil Programme benefits  and such other purposes as described in Great Eastern's Privacy Statement (collectively, the “Purposes”) which is accessible from Great Eastern Singapore’s website at https://www.greateasternlife.com/, which you confirm you have read and understood.

7.   In addition, where personal data of any person is disclosed by a policyholder, the policyholder further confirms and represents that they have obtained the consent of the individual concerned for the Purposes, unless such consent is not required under applicable laws: (i) to collect such personal data; (ii) for the disclosure of such personal data to the Great Eastern Persons; and (iii) for the Great Eastern Persons’ collection, use and/or disclosure of such personal data.

8.    By participating in this Programme, all policyholders agree to release and hold the Great Eastern Companies harmless from any and all liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind to any person or property arising from or in connection with, either directly or indirectly:

            (a)    participation in the Programme and Programme-related activities; and

            (b)    the awarding, acceptance, receipt, possession, use or misuse of any Programme benefits or parts thereof awarded pursuant to the             Programme.

9.      The decisions of Great Eastern on all matters relating to the Programme are at its discretion and are final, conclusive and binding.

10.     In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and any brochures, marketing or other promotional materials or communications relating to the Programme, these terms and conditions shall prevail.

11.     Great Eastern reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion (without any obligation to provide a reason), to (a) terminate or withdraw the Programme; or (b) vary these terms and conditions, including amending the duration of the Programme for a specified group of policyholders, without prior notice or liability to any party.

12.     By participating in the Programme, policyholder(s) hereby agree to all the terms and conditions of participating in the Programme as set out herein, including but not limited to the qualifying criteria, the collection, use and transfer of personal data by Great Eastern, in accordance with the Great Eastern’s Privacy Statement and all amendments, additions, replacements and modifications hereto as may from time to time be made by Great Eastern.

13.     The terms and conditions of the Programme shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with Singapore law. The courts of Singapore shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from the terms and conditions, including the validity and enforceability thereof.

14.     All correspondence and documents relating to the Programme shall be in English.
