About Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
1. What is an LPA?
An LPA allows you to appoint trusted person(s) to make decisions on your behalf if you lose mental capacity.
2. Is LPA only for older adults?
No. Anyone aged 21 or above can make an LPA.
3. Will I lose control after making an LPA?
No. You remain in control unless you lose mental capacity.
4. Who can be my Donee?
Any trusted person aged 21 and above. For property and affairs matters, the Donee must not be an undischarged bankrupt.
5. Can foreigners apply for an LPA?
Yes, subject to the eligibility requirements set by Office of the Public Guardian Online (OPG).
6. Can I change or revoke my LPA?
Yes, as long as you have mental capacity.
7. Do my Donee(s) need to attend the certification session?
No.
About the Event
8. Who are eliglible to register for the Great Legacy Programme?
This programme is exclusive only to individuals invited by selected Financial Representatives. A $10 registration fee will be charged to the Financial Representative for each registration for the programme.
9. What happens if I miss my scheduled timeslot?
Late arrivals may be accommodated on a best-effort basis, subject to slot availability.
10. Can I change my timeslot after registration?
Yes. If you need to make changes to your registration, please contact your Financial Representative at least 2 days before the event date. Subject to slot availability.
11. What happens if I miss my queue number?
You will need to obtain a new queue number and rejoin the queue. Your original queue position will be forfeited.
12. What should I prepare before attending my LPA appointment?
For LPA certification, please complete and submit your LPA Form 1 online before your appointment and ensure that your Donee(s) have accepted their appointment. You may refer to the Helpful Resources listed above for guidance on completing your application. Please also have the MSF SMS notification ready to present when you arrive for your certification session.
13. How long will the certification process take?
The duration may vary depending on the individual’s circumstances and the number of participants onsite. Hence, the certification process and waiting time may be up to one hour or longer. We appreciate your understanding. If you are unable to wait for your turn, you may approach our staff onsite to reschedule your appointment.
