Ministry of Health New Requirements for Integrated Shield Plan (IP) Supplementary Plans
Following the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) recent announcement on changes to IP supplementary plans, Great Eastern will be introducing new IP supplementary plans (known as IP rider by MOH) for private and restructured hospitals by 1 April 2026, to ensure we meet the latest requirements.
The new supplementary plans will incorporate the following features:
- The deductible listed in the table below will be payable by customers.

- The co-payment amount that customers pay will be capped at $6,000 or higher, per policy year, and the cap will exclude the minimum IP deductible, as stipulated by MOH.
Great Eastern believes that these new measures will encourage the conscious and prudent use of healthcare services, and help keep premiums affordable and sustainable for all IP policyholders in the long run. Policyholders can expect more cost-effective premiums on the new supplementary plans.
For New Customers
- The features summarised above will be applicable to IP supplementary plans purchased from 1 April 2026.
- Customers who purchase the current GREAT TotalCare plan between 27 November 2025 and 31 March 2026 (both days inclusive) will continue to enjoy the existing benefits. The revisions to deductible coverage and co-payment cap, as outlined above, will be implemented on the policy renewals only starting from 1 April 2028.
For Existing Customers
Existing GREAT SupremeHealth and GREAT TotalCare policyholders will continue to enjoy the benefits under their current plans. They may also choose to change to the new supplementary plans any time after launch. Policyholders who wish to switch to a new supplementary plan with equivalent or lower benefits will be able to do so without additional underwriting.
